ANNAPOLIS, Md. - About 60 opponents of capital punishment have held a rally against Maryland's death penalty.

Kim Davis, the sister of Georgia death row inmate Troy Davis who was executed in September, attended the rally in Annapolis on Monday. She says mistakes were made in her brother's case and that states can't continue to kill innocent people in a flawed system.

Troy Davis was convicted in the 1989 shooting death of an off-duty Savannah police officer but said he was innocent. He became the center of an international outcry from supporters who said he was the victim of mistaken identity. Prosecutors and the officer's family have said they were certain Davis was guilty.

Maryland lawmakers who oppose capital punishment plan to push for repeal in the legislative session, which started last week.
