BALTIMORE - Federal prosecutors say a Gambrills podiatrist has been sentenced to 54 months in prison for a plot to bill Medicare for $1 million for services he never performed.
Fifty-six-year-old Larry Bernhard was also ordered to pay restitution at sentencing on Wednesday.
According to his plea agreement, Bernhard used the names and personal information of some 200 nursing home patients to submit false bills for podiatry care that he never provided.
