WASHINGTON - Authorities have identified a body found near a creek in Northeast D.C. as that of a 56-year-old District man.
Metropolitan Police say Leroy Studevant was discovered unconscious about 8 a.m. on Saturday in the 4200 block of Hunt Place. Police have ruled Studevant's death a homicide, and say the cause was strangulation and blunt force trauma.
Police say Studevant's death is the first homicide of 2012, because the cause and manner of his death was ruled on Jan. 1. The city ended 2011 with 108 homicides.
