RICHMOND, Va. - The state Department of Motor Vehicles and the Social Security Administration are teaming up to offer one-stop service in Richmond.
The DMV's mobile service center will roll into the rear parking lot of the downtown Social Security office on Jan. 11 for customers who have business with both agencies. The DMV plans to make the partnership a regularly scheduled service if there is demand.
DMV Commissioner Richard D. Holcomb said the marriage makes sense because customers often need documents from one agency to conduct business at the other agency.
The mobile unit, called DMV 2 go, is accessible to all and offers a full range of DMV services.
