The grants awarded by the Virginia Land Conservation Foundation go to private land trusts, local governments and state agencies. The grants require a minimum of a 50 percent match.
The grants announced Wednesday are going to Shenandoah Valley Battlefields Foundation for 92 acres of the Port Republic Battlefield, the Civil War Trust for a 1-acre property in Henrico County that was the site of the last battle of the Seven Days' Campaign, and to Sundance LLC to purchase 206 acres of forestland in Rockingham County, among others.
