DANVILLE, Va. - A woman whose son died after she left him in a hot car in Danville will spend 10 years in prison.
Media outlets report that Danielle Clark was sentenced Wednesday in Danville Circuit Court for involuntary manslaughter. The judge suspended a five-year sentence on abuse charges.
Police say Clark and Maiquan DeShazor left Clark's 20-month-old son, her 3-year-old daughter and Deshazor's 78-year-old grandmother in a hot car outside a department store on June 21.
The boy died four days later at a hospital. His sister and the woman were treated for heat exhaustion.
DeShazor was sentenced Wednesday to 10 years in prison for abuse and neglect of an adult, with four years and a month suspended. She received suspended sentences on related charges.
