WASHINGTON - A 25-year-old Washington man has pleaded guilty to murder in the death of a teenager whose body was never found and is believed to be in a Virginia landfill.
Brian Gaither pleaded guilty Tuesday in Superior Court in Washington. He was one of two people indicted on first-degree murder charges in the case. The other man, Johnnie Sweets, is scheduled to go on trial April 8.
The charges stem from the alleged kidnapping and killing of 18-year-old Latisha Frazier in August 2010. Prosecutors say Frazier was suspected of stealing money from a group of people. Authorities say she was beaten, bound with tape, and her body was disposed of in a trash bin.
Gaither is to be sentenced Feb. 1 and faces up to life in prison.
