Suffolk stops massive sewage spill in to creek

Thursday - 11/8/2012, 12:43pm  ET

SUFFOLK, Va. - Suffolk has stopped a leak that spilled more than 9 million gallons of raw sewage into a creek.

WAVY-TV ( http://bit.ly/Sx278w) reports that the city capped the leak around 5 a.m. Thursday.

Sewage began spilling into Shingle Creek last week after a 9-inch section of a main ruptured during Hurricane Sandy.

The city says a section of Wilroy Road will be closed until at least late November while the damage is repaired.
