LOVINGSTON, Va. - A Roseland man and his wife have each been convicted on more than dozen animal charges.
The charges stem from a raid of the couple's home last November.
WVIR-TV ( http://bit.ly/JV1hAY) reports that 71-year-old David Tracy Davis was found guilty of 14 animal cruelty counts. His wife, 61-year-old Joyce Davis, was convicted of 15 counts.
Each received a suspended 60-day sentence and is barred from owning any animal for two years.
Agents with the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control and other agencies seized malnourished hunting dogs, chickens and two horses during the raid. A distillery and firearms also were seized.
David Davis faces a separate trial in Nelson County Circuit Court on 11 counts of armed alcohol violations.
