RIMINI, Italy (AP) -- The U.S. and Italy are tied 1-1 in their best-of-five Fed Cup meeting. Italy's Sara Errani (ehr-RAH'-nee) blitzed Jamie Hampton 6-2, 6-1. American Varvara Lepchenko pulled off a 2-6, 6-4, 7-5 win over Roberta Vinci.
SCHLADMING, Austria (AP) -- Norwegian veteran Aksel Lund Svindal won the men's downhill at the world championships by nearly a-half second today in Austria. Andrew Weibrecht was the top American finisher, in 22nd place.
