CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) -- It appears the No. 1 ranking in The Associated Press men's basketball poll will change hands for the sixth consecutive week following Indiana's 74-72 loss at Illinois. Tyler Griffey hit an uncontested layup at the buzzer to complete Illinois' game-ending, 13-2 run. D.J. Richardson had 23 points for the Illini, who were just 2-7 in the Big Ten and trailed by double digits most of the second half.
UNDATED (AP) -- Fourth-ranked Duke and No. 6 Gonzaga were winners on Thursday. Mason Plumlee poured in 30 points, Seth Curry added 26 and Quinn Cook finished with 21 as the Blue Devils hammered North Carolina State 99-85. Kevin Pangos scored 14 points and sixth-ranked Gonzaga cruised to an 82-56 win over Pepperdine.
BOSTON (AP) -- The Boston Celtics had little trouble picking up their sixth straight win as Paul Pierce had 24 points, seven rebounds and six assists in a 116-95 rout of the Los Angeles Lakers. Jeff Green came off the bench to add 19 points, while Kevin Garnett and Jason Terry each finished with 15. Dwight Howard started for L.A. after missing three games with a sore right shoulder, providing nine rebounds and just nine points in 28 minutes before fouling out.
DENVER (AP) -- Wilson Chandler scored a game-high 24 points and the Denver Nuggets improved to 22-3 at home with their eighth straight win, a 128-95 laugher against Chicago. Kenneth Faried added 21 points and 12 rebounds for Denver, who had 100 points by the end of the third quarter and shot 58 percent for the game.
GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) -- The Chicago Blackhawks remain the lone NHL team without a regulation loss this season following an easy win at Phoenix. Patrick Kane had two goals and an assist as the Hawks ripped the Coyotes 6-2. Kane already has 18 points this season after scoring twice on 5-on-3 power plays during the Blackhawks' four-goal first period.
