Redskins WR Hankerson might need knee surgery

Monday - 11/18/2013, 4:50pm  ET

ASHBURN, Va. (AP) -- An MRI on Washington Redskins receiver Leonard Hankerson's knee injury has come back positive and he might require surgery.

Hankerson hurt the lateral collateral ligament his left knee in Sunday's 24-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Coach Mike Shanahan said Monday that MRI results were negative on left knee injuries sustained by cornerback E.J. Biggers and defensive end Stephen Bowen. The coach said both players were sore.

Tight end Jordan Reed suffered a concussion in the game and undergo the required NFL protocol for head injuries before he can return to practice.

Hankerson has emerged as the No. 2 wideout this season. He has 30 catches for 375 yards and three touchdowns.
