MIAMI (AP) -- The half-sister of slain Washington Redskins star Sean Taylor has testified that she knew the alleged shooter and dated a man linked to what prosecutors say was a failed plot to burglarize the player's Miami-area home.
Sasha Johnson testified Tuesday that 23-year-old Eric Rivera Jr. played for a little league football team in Fort Myers coached by her father. Johnson also dated the brother of another man charged in Taylor's 2007 killing.
Johnson says yet another suspect attended her October 2007 birthday party during which Taylor gave her $10,000 in cash. Prosecutors say the group thought they could steal more cash by burglarizing Taylor's home.
Rivera has pleaded not guilty and his lawyer says he was forced by police to confess falsely. Prosecutors say that confession was voluntary.
