ASHBURN, Va. (AP) - Mike Shanahan says there's "no doubt" in his mind that he'll be back as the Washington Redskins coach next season.
Shanahan needs to win Sunday's regular season finale to match predecessor Jim Zorn's won-loss record over two seasons.
Zorn was fired after going 12-20.
Shanahan said Thursday he told owner Dan Snyder: "If you don't plan on me coaching here five years and doing it the right way, you're hiring the wrong guy. It's going to take some time to do it right."
He adds: "There's no doubt in my mind. Hopefully there's no doubt in Dan's mind, too."
The Redskins are 5-10. They finish the season against the Philadelphia Eagles.
