SEATTLE (AP) -- Felix Hernandez and the Seattle Mariners are working on a $175 million, seven-year contract that would make him the highest-paid pitcher in baseball, according to a person with knowledge of the deal's details. Hernandez's total dollars would top CC Sabathia's original $161 million, seven-year contract with the New York Yankees and his $25 million average would surpass Zack Greinke's $24.5 million under his new contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

NASHVILL,E Tenn. (AP) -- New Titans senior defensive assistant coach Gregg Williams has apologized while taking "full responsibility" for his role in the New Orleans Saints bounty scandal. Williams had his suspension for his part in the scandal lifted by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell (guh-DEHL') before being named to the Tennessee position earlier today. Williams was the Saints defensive coordinator at the time of the bounty program.

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) -- Vikings running back Adrian Peterson has had surgery to repair a sports hernia in his abdomen, an injury that bothered him for much of the last month of the season while he came up just 8 yards short of Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. The team says it expects a quick recovery and has no long term concerns.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- No. 2 Florida will be without reserve forward Will Yeguete (yee-GEHT') for at least the rest of the regular season following knee surgery. He's scheduled to have loose bodies in the knee removed tomorrow. The 6-foot-7 junior is usually the first player off the bench and is averaging 6.0 points and 6.3 rebounds a game this season.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Kevin Love rejoined his Minnesota Timberwolves teammates for the first time since he had surgery on his broken right hand Jan. 15. He has not been cleared for contact work, but says he hopes to be back on the court sometime in the middle of March.
