NEW YORK (AP) -- Comments on the Pittsburgh Steelers by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
___
PITTSBURGH STEELERS (13)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 10) -- What was that?
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 14) -- Steelers have been inconsistent, but loss to Chargers was shocker.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 14)
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 10) -- Ugly loss at home to San Diego, but I still trust them more than Baltimore and Cincinnati.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 16) -- On the day Ben Roethlisberger came back, the Steelers' defense left. Roethlisberger didn't help with an interception and a botched screen pass.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 13) -- The Steelers have the chance to become the only AFC team to go unbeaten against the NFC in 2012 with a victory Sunday over the Cowboys. Pittsburgh has swept the other three NFC East opponents.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 13) -- Ben Roethlisberger is back, but consistency is not. These guys too often play up or down to the competition.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 16) -- Middle of the pack seems about right for these aging warriors.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 11) -- Ben Roethlisberger looked rusty in his return. The defense looks challenged without Ike Taylor. They should bounce back if the o line can overcome the season ending injury to Willie Colon.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 13) -- The Steelers laid an egg against the Chargers. Hard to fathom an effort like that from this team with so much at stake.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 16) -- A 34-24 home loss to what was a slumping San Diego squad could ultimately cost the Steelers a playoff berth.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 16) -- Against the Raiders, Browns, Titans and Chargers, they are 0-4. Good thing the next two games are against contenders.
