NEW YORK (AP) -- Notre Dame is the unanimous No. 1 team in the latest Associated Press college football poll, picking up all 60 first-place votes following last night's 22-13 win over Southern Cal. Alabama remains No. 2, followed by Georgia, Ohio State and Florida. Oregon, Kansas State, Stanford, LSU and Texas A&M round out the top 10.
AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- Auburn University President Jay Gogue is expected to make a decision either today or tomorrow on whether to keep or fire football coach Gene Chizik (CHIH'-zihk). A university spokesman says Gogue "is standing by his plan to evaluate coaches after the season." The Tigers lost all eight Southeastern Conference games two years after winning a national title.
CHICAGO (AP) -- Jay Cutler is back at quarterback for the Chicago Bears against the Minnesota Vikings this afternoon. Cutler was limited in practice this week after missing the Bears' last game against San Francisco due to a concussion suffered on a helmet-to-helmet hit against Houston two weeks ago. Vikings receiver Percy Harvin sits out his second straight game because of a sprained left ankle.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Former Buffalo Bills tight end Ernie Warlick has died at age 80 following a brief illness. Warlick was among football's first pass-catching tight ends and helped the Bills win consecutive AFL titles in 1964 and '65. He had 90 receptions for over 1,500 yards and four touchdowns in four years with Buffalo.
HOUSTON (AP) -- The daughter of Houston Rockets coach Kevin McHale has died at 22. The death of Alexandra "Sasha" McHale was announced today by the team, which released no other details. Kevin McHale has been on leave since Nov. 10 to deal with what the club called a personal family matter.
