Boston school buses rolling again after strike

Wednesday - 10/9/2013, 1:50pm  ET

BOSTON (AP) -- Even though school buses were back on the road this morning, taking children to schools in Boston, officials are warning that the dispute that led to yesterday's one-day work stoppage has not been resolved.

A school spokesman says there's still a possibility of "a similar action at any time," and that contingency plans remain in place. He says there's no guarantee the buses will be there for the ride home.

The drivers' union says drivers agreed to return to work after the company that is contracted by the city to transport the students agreed to meet with the union today to discuss grievances.

Yesterday's wildcat strike stranded about 33,000 children. They were shuttled to schools in police cars and offered free rides on public transportation.

A union attorney says the strike wasn't authorized by the union, and that it was led by rogue members.
