FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- A college instructor in California is on paid administrative leave after getting into a physical altercation with a female student.
The Fresno Bee cites a campus police report that says at least six students support the account from the student, 19-year-old Kevynn Gomez, concerning her fight with instructor Brian Calhoun at Fresno City College on March 22.
In the police report, Gomez admits cursing at the 69-year-old Calhoun because she said he was being rude to students and a substitute teacher in her class. The journalism major said she punched Calhoun in the face because he grabbed her arm and used his forearm to pin her neck against a wall.
The report says Calhoun lifted the 5-foot, 101-pound Gomez Gomez and slammed her onto the ground. Students reportedly pulled him away.
Calhoun was cited for misdemeanor battery.
