Gaithersburg school locked down after gun scare

WASHINGTON – Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg was locked down briefly Friday after a man was seen with a gun in the parking lot.

A spokesman for the school system says the school went into a lockdown just after 2 p.m. The man then reportedly left in a car shortly after being seen.

Police have stopped two men in a car matching the description of the car seen at the school. Police cannot say if they found any weapons but say the situation is under control.

Students at Quince Orchard were then released around 15 minutes later.

The school spokesman says the school acted out of an abundance of caution.
