Traffic cameras catch 6,000 Seattle speeders

SEATTLE (AP) - Cameras caught so many drivers speeding near four Seattle schools the city decided to extend the warning period.

Mayor Mike McGinn told The Seattle Times ( http://is.gd/sAesJ8) he was surprised the cameras caught 6,000 speeders in less than a month.

The automatic ticketing system was supposed to go live on Nov. 1, but that has been extended to Dec. 10. After then violators will get a $189 ticket in the mail.
