Pranksters banned from Herndon graduation

HERNDON, Va. – A prank at Herndon High School could mean some seniors will be banned from Thursday’s graduation ceremonies.

Six seniors poured baby oil in hallways and stairways on June 6, thinking the sight of classmates skating sounded funny. The principal didn’t think so. The prank was done on a day when exams were being given at the school.

Three of the students have been told they can’t get their diplomas during Thurday’s ceremony. The students have apologized and are pleading for some other sort of punishment. The other three will be allowed to graduate, but they were suspended for three days.

The school system is standing by the principal’s decision, saying graduating seniors are reminded of the possible consequences of misbehaving.

Some students are tweeting about the issue, using #LetTheBoysWalk2012.
