Police: 3 killed in crash on Va. Eastern Shore

KELLER, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police say three people were killed in a head-on collision on the Eastern Shore.

Spokeswoman Corinne Geller says a van crossed the center line of U.S. Route 13 near Keller in Accomack County and hit a car shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.

The driver and two of the five passengers in the car died at the scene. The driver was 58-year-old Arnette N. Chandler of Roosevelt, New York. The passengers were 55-year-old Diann W. Jones of Exmore, Virginia, and 12-year-old A’Jamae Jones, whose hometown was unavailable.

A 13-year-old boy was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. Two girls, ages 8 and 9, suffered minor injuries.

The van driver was not injured and was charged with drunken driving. Police were trying to confirm his name Sunday.
