Cuccinelli, McAuliffe plan NAACP stop

Friday - 10/25/2013, 5:50pm  ET

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe are planning a stop at the state's NAACP meeting.

The Friday evening session comes a day after the pair's final planned formal debate, which yielded no dramatic moment that might have reshaped the race. Cuccinelli, Virginia's attorney general, trails McAuliffe in the polls and in television spending.

The candidates also were planning events with high-profile supporters to energize their political bases.

McAuliffe's campaign announced Planned Parenthood's Cecile Richards would join the campaign on Saturday and former President Bill Clinton was coming a day later.

Cuccinelli, meanwhile, was set to join Sen. Rand Paul, a tea party darling from Kentucky, at the Jerry Falwell-founded Liberty University on Monday.
