Matthew Frumin leads money race for D.C. Council

WASHINGTON (AP) -- A lawyer and former Clinton administration official continues to lead the money race among candidates for an open D.C. Council seat.
Democrat Matthew Frumin reported Tuesday that he's raised $130,000 for the April 23 special election and has $97,000 on hand.
Frumin is a newcomer to District of Columbia politics. He was a major fundraiser for President Bill Clinton in the 1990s.
Republican Patrick Mara has raised $75,000 and has $53,000 on hand. Democrat Elissa Silverman has raised $61,000 and still has $47,000.
Interim Councilmember Anita Bonds, a Democrat who is trying to hold onto the seat, says she raised $46,000 this period, but her financial report has not been posted.
Democrat and former councilmember Michael A. Brown has raised $40,000 and has $28,000 on hand.
