RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - The State Board of Elections plans a drawing to determine the order in which Virginia's two major political parties will be listed on the November general election ballot.
The party names will be drawn Tuesday from a crystal bowl by a member of the elections board. Candidates nominated by the political party drawn first will appear first throughout Virginia's ballot. The number two spot will go to the other party.
Besides Democrats and Republicans, the board said it anticipates conducting a second drawing later this year for other political parties, such as the Libertarian and Green parties. They would follow the Democratic and Republican candidates.
