BALTIMORE (AP) — Maryland health officials are outlining extensive efforts to monitor for any Ebola virus developments in the state.

Gov. Martin O’Malley held a news conference with state health officials to discuss collaborative efforts with hospitals in Maryland, Virginia and the District of Columbia.

They emphasized that no Ebola cases have been acquired in Maryland. A woman with the virus has come from Texas to be treated at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda.

Maryland Hospital officials discussed screening measures that have been put in place and robust training of hospital staff.

They say the highest risk is for people treating patients, and extremely careful attention is being focused on making sure medical personnel remove protective gear properly.
