LYNCHBURG, Va. -- Centra Health, Lynchburg College and Central Virginia Community College are celebrating the completing of what is being called the state's most comprehensive virtual health care learning facility.
Officials held a ceremony marking the completion of the $3 million Central Virginia Center for Simulation and Virtual Learning in Lynchburg on Thursday.
The News & Advance reports (http://bit.ly/142oISF) that the facility will give nursing students a place to accrue clinical hours in an era when hospitals and clinics can no longer accommodate all of them.
Lynchburg College President Ken Garren said one of the major stresses for nursing students is finding places for them to get the hands-on experience needed before obtaining their degrees.
Now, 20 percent of those clinical hours can be earned in medical simulations.
