Cyber-training not yet in place for DC workers

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The District of Columbia government has yet to offer organized across-the-board cyber-security training to its employees despite an internal recommendation last year that it improve such education.
Cyber-attacks are on the rise and increasingly sophisticated. Local governments are seen as especially vulnerable because of personal and sensitive information they maintain.
D.C. officials organized a multi-agency exercise last April to gauge the government's cyber-attack readiness. An after-action report obtained by The Associated Press listed better cyber-security training for D.C. employees as a top goal. But that hasn't yet happened, in part because officials say they're first trying to improve the security of their network to prevent against threats.
