At a Glance: The mini iPad vs. older model

(AP) - Here's a look at the key differences between the iPad Mini, updated full-sized iPad and previous models. The two versions announced Tuesday will have the new Lightning connector, which was introduced with the iPhone 5 last month. Previous models used the connector adapted from the iPod.

iPad Mini (available Nov. 2):

_ Prices: 16-gigabyte Wi-Fi-only model for $329, 32 gigabytes for $429 and 64 gigabytes for $529. Cellular models cost $130 more.

_ Screen size: 7.9 inches diagonally

_ Thickness: 0.28 inch

_ Weight: 0.68 pound (0.69 pound for cellular versions)

_ Screen resolution: Sharper, Retina display, 1024 by 768 pixels

_ Cameras: 5-megapixel camera on back and a low-resolution camera on front, for videoconferencing

_ Video recording: high-definition (1080p _ comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat-panel TV), up to 30 frames per second with audio

_ Battery life: 10 hours.

_ Dual-core A5 processor

_ U.S. wireless carriers: AT&T, Verizon Wireless, Sprint

_ U.S. release date: Nov. 2, 2012

Fourth-generation iPad (available Nov. 2):

_ Prices: 16-gigabyte Wi-Fi-only model for $499, 32 gigabytes for $599 and 64 gigabytes for $699. Cellular models cost $130 more.

_ Screen size: 9.7 inches diagonally

_ Thickness: 0.37 inch

_ Weight: 1.44 pounds (1.46 pounds for cellular versions)

_ Screen resolution: Sharper, Retina display, 2048 by 1536 pixels

_ Cameras: 5-megapixel camera on back and a low-resolution camera on front, for videoconferencing

_ Video recording: high-definition (1080p _ comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat-panel TV), up to 30 frames per second with audio

Third-generation iPad:

_ Prices: Same as fourth generation at launch. Will be discontinued, replaced by fourth-generation model

_ Cameras: same as fourth-generation model

_ Video recording: same as fourth-generation model

iPad 2:

_ Weight: 1.33 pounds (1.35-1.36 pounds for 3G models)

_ Screen resolution: 1024 by 768 pixels

_ Cameras: High-definition (720p) camera on back and a low-resolution camera on front, for videoconferencing

_ Video recording: high-definition (720p _ comparable to the resolution of a 40-inch flat-panel TV), up to 30 frames per second with audio

Original iPad:

_ Prices: No longer on sale. Originally same as new iPad
