WV casino opens concert venue July 5

RANSON, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia’s largest casino will debut a new, 1,200-seat concert venue on July 5.

The band Credence Clearwater Revisited, which features two former members of the classic rock band Credence Clearwater Revival, will be the opening act at the new Event Center at Hollywood Casino.

The casino draws heavily from the D.C. market, but has faced tough competition the last few years from Maryland casinos, especially the Maryland Live! casino at Arundel Mills, which has a 500-seat concert venue on its casino floor.

The West Virginia venue, located just off the casino floor, will also host the comedian Sinbad and a Vietnamese concert featuring international talent in July.
