Radian Group Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines

Radian Group reported earnings on July 24. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended June 30 (Q2), Radian Group beat expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.

Compared to the prior-year quarter, revenue expanded significantly. Non-GAAP earnings per share grew. GAAP loss per share dropped.

EPS came in at $0.05. The five earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ forecast -$0.04 per share. Non-GAAP EPS were $0.05 for Q2 compared to -$0.38 per share for the prior-year quarter. GAAP EPS were -$0.19 for Q2 against -$0.90 per share for the prior-year quarter.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 24.5%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was -6.1%, much better than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was -16.7%, much better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)

Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $239.6 million. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is -$0.04.
