Omnicare Beats on Both Top and Bottom Lines

Omnicare reported earnings on July 24. Here are the numbers you need to know.

For the quarter ended June 30 (Q2), Omnicare beat expectations on revenues and beat expectations on earnings per share.

EPS came in at $0.90. The eight earnings estimates compiled by S&P Capital IQ anticipated $0.87 per share. Non-GAAP EPS of $0.90 for Q2 were 43% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.63 per share. GAAP EPS of $0.48 for Q2 were 182% higher than the prior-year quarter's $0.17 per share.

Margin details
For the quarter, gross margin was 24.1%, 20 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. Operating margin was 7.3%, 190 basis points worse than the prior-year quarter. Net margin was 3.3%, 210 basis points better than the prior-year quarter. (Margins calculated in GAAP terms.)

Looking ahead
Next quarter's average estimate for revenue is $1.53 billion. On the bottom line, the average EPS estimate is $0.88.

Next year's average estimate for revenue is $6.14 billion. The average EPS estimate is $3.56.
