SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (AP) -- Authorities in the Dominican Republic have renewed a search for possible survivors after six migrants died when a boat capsized en route to Puerto Rico.
Navy spokesman Juan Sandoval said Friday that 16 people have been rescued, including 14 Haitians who will be repatriated soon. Officials believe that up to 25 people were aboard the boat when it overturned Thursday off the Dominican Republic's southern coast.
Authorities have said there was apparently some kind of fire on board and that survivors and some of those killed suffered burns.
