CARACAS, Venezuela (AP) -- It was a tearful, televised announcement of Venezuela's vice president that broke the news of the death of Hugo Chavez, the firebrand, larger-than-life socialist who led the nation for 14 years. Vice President Nicolas Maduro is the country's interim president until an election can be held. The 58-year-old's death after a two-year cancer battle drew cheers from Venezuelan immigrants in the U.S. who hoped for change in their homeland, and tears in Caracas.
