MIAMI (AP) -- Tropical Depression Jerry is expected to weaken in the Atlantic.

The depression's maximum sustained winds early Thursday are near 35 mph (55 kph). The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the depression is expected to become a remnant low on Friday.

Jerry is centered about 985 miles (1,580 kilometers) west-southwest of the Azores and is moving northeast near 9 mph (15 kph).

The depression isn't currently threatening any land.
