BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - The Greater Bluefield Ministerial Association is sponsoring a prayer vigil next week for the victims of the Connecticut school shooting.
The vigil is set for Thursday night at Trinity United Methodist Church in Bluefield. It is part of the Longest Night or Blue Christmas Service.
Bluefield Union Mission director Craig Hammond told the Bluefield Daily Telegraph ( http://bit.ly/WagIgG) that the service was started as a way to help people cope with the stress and pain of the holidays
Hammond says the service is designed to comfort those who find the holidays difficult for reasons ranging from the loss of loved ones, being alone in a new place, illness or any other life situation that might make holidays painful.
