DOVER, Del. - Delmarva Power is close to restoring power to all customers who lost electrical service in a weekend storm.
Delmarva said Monday that power had been restored to more than 97 percent of customers affected by the storm, but crews were still being dispatched to localized outages in Maryland and Delaware and that service should be restored to all of the estimated 84,000 customers affected by the storm by midnight.
The storm knocked down trees, utility poles and power lines throughout the mid- Atlantic region, with Odessa, Townsend, Middletown and New Castle among the hardest-hit areas in Delaware.
Meanwhile, residents were bracing for another heat wave, with highs expected in the 90s all this week and a chance of severe thunderstorms in some areas on the Fourth of July.
