Teen reports attempted abduction in Stafford County

Friday - 4/11/2014, 12:09pm  ET

WASHINGTON - A teen girl was grabbed by a man as she walked her dog Thursday evening in southern Stafford County but was able to escape.

She had spoken to the same man earlier that day, according to the Stafford County Sheriff's Office.

The 17-year-old girl was walking in the Stafford Lakes subdivision when the man walked up behind her and grabbed her wrist. She kneed him in the thigh to break his hold and was able to run home, police say.

Police searched the area but had not found the man as of Friday morning.

The same man approached the girl about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, again as she was walking her dog. He was driving a white van and spoke to her in Spanish.

Police say his tone was "conversational" and that he made no attempt to grab the teen.

He is described as a Hispanic man in his late 30s or early 40s, about 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-8, weighing between 140 and 150 pounds with short black hair. He had no facial hair and was wearing a black shirt with dirt marks on it along with tan, short cargo shorts. His two front teeth were crooked.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 540-658-4400 or Stafford Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020.
