Teen girl arrested in connection with fatal shooting of Woodbridge student

WASHINGTON – Prince William County police have arrested a fifth teen in connection with the fatal shooting of a 16-year-old boy near Woodbridge Senior High School.

Police say the 16-year-old girl was involved in Brenden Wilson’s death. Police have already arrested four others – two men and two teen boys – on charges related to Wilson’s murder.

Investigators believe that the five suspects set up the drug sale as a ruse to rob Wilson. All five were present at the time of the shooting, police say.

Wilson was shot on a path leading from the school to a nearby residential area on Nov. 10.

The 16-year-old girl is charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Kawain Smalls, 20 of Woodbridge, is charged with murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Kymothy-Tyriq Wilson, 18 also of Woodbridge, and two 17-year-old boys are charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Another teen was killed this weekend in an unrelated shooting. Nathaniel Weaver, 19, of Woodbridge, was shot in the Dale City area early Sunday morning. A second teen was also shot but is expected to survive.
