Attorneys: Police want to take ‘explicit’ photos of teen defendant in sexting case

WASHINGTON – Manassas City police are seeking a search warrant so they can take photos of a 17-year-old defendant in a sexting cases.

Police say they want to compare images of the boy’s genitalia to images he sent to his girlfriend, according to the Washington Post.

The Washington Post reports the boy’s defense lawyer says that forcing the teen to pose for sexually-explicit pictures in front of police officers would be traumatizing.

The boy’s guardian ad litem, a court-appointed advocate, says it would be just as illegal for police to create their own child pornography in order to investigate the teen for charges of illegally possessing and manufacturing child pornography. He called the investigators’ line of inquiry a waste of taxpayers’ dollars.

Police would not comment about their search warrant request. But the boy’s defense attorney tells the Post that police planned to take the teen to the hospital where he would be injected in order to induce arousal. Then they would take the photos.

NBC4 first reported the story last week.
