WASHINGTON – Three people are dead after a mobile home fire in Prince William County Tuesday morning.

The fire started at a unit in a trailer park on the 18700 block of Fuller Heights Road at about 3:20 a.m. Fire crews responded to the scene and extinguished the blaze, but found three people dead inside the residence, says Prince William County Battalion Fire Chief Curtis Brodie.

Officials say all three victims appear to be adults, but information about their age and gender remains unknown.

Officials have not released information about what caused the fire.

Fire crews doused nearby mobile homes with water to prevent the flames from spreading through the three-trailer park. No other injuries have been reported.

The fire and police departments are investigating the fire.

“It’s going to be a long, drawn-out investigation,” Brodie says.

The cost of damage caused by the fire is not yet clear. Brodie says the damage is “extensive” after the ceiling and walls “failed.”

Earl Barbour, who lives in the neighboring mobile home in the close-knit community, says the fire and deaths have been devastating to him.

“I feel that if I had left home maybe 10 minutes later this morning, I could have saved someone’s life,” says Barbour, who is not allowed back in his residence while police investigate the blaze. “But I left to go to work.”

The Red Cross is working with displaced residents in the two remaining mobile home units to help meet their needs.
