Pr. Wm. Board Chair announces run for Va. lt. gov.

WASHINGTON – Prince William County Board of Supervisors Chairman Corey A. Stewart announced he will be running for lieutenant governor, InsideNoVA.com reports.

Stewart was on Newsradio 1070 WINA in Charlottesville Monday when he said he would be running for the office.

He said he would make a formal announcement later in the year.

Stewart is well known for his vocal criticism of the Department of Homeland Security.

He has said on WTOP’s “Ask the Executive” program the DHS has knowingly released illegal immigrant criminals without collaboration with local authorities.

Prince William County filed a lawsuit against DHS in an attempt to get the agency to turn over records on an illegal immigrant charged with killing a nun.

WTOP will bring you more details as they become available.
