WASHINGTON - The 18-year-old driver of a car involved in a fatal crash on Logmill Road in Haymarket last month has been arrested and charged with reckless driving.
Christopher Suarez was behind the wheel when the April 20 crash occurred, and police have said he was speeding. The car carrying five teens struck a deer and then ran into a tree.
Savanna Kidane Mouratidis and Kendra Kaeleen Tucker, both 15, died as a result of the crash, which took place on a deadly stretch of Logmill Road that Prince William County officials say will be flattened to help prevent future accidents.
Police also have said none of the teens in the accident was wearing a seatbelt.
Virginia court records show Suarez had previously pleaded guilty to underage possession of alcohol, but Prince William County Police say alcohol was not a factor in this crash.
Suarez is being held without bond and is expected to appear in court in September.
