Woodbridge road rage driver faces attempted murder

Wednesday - 2/23/2011, 2:55pm  ET

MANASSAS, Va.- A Woodbridge man is facing attempted murder charges stemming from a March road rage incident.

With his 2-year-old daughter in the car, prosecutors say Gabriel Poventud, 26, got out of his car on I-95 and fired 13 shots at dump truck driver James Bringham.

Both men told different stories in court, with Poventud saying he retaliated after Bringham rammed his car with the dump truck. Bringham told the court he felt he had no choice after he and Poventud exchanged obscene gestures and jockeyed for position after he cut Poventud off.

Bringham, 45, originally charged with attempted murder, is facing reckless driving charges. His charges were reduced in exchange for his testimony and he is expected to plead guilty next month.
