WASHINGTON -- Police are keeping a heavier presence around the Fairfax County Courthouse Friday after a threat against the courthouse was received.
The threat was phoned in at 9:41 a.m., prompting the Fairfax County Police Department to put armed officers at the courthouse entrances and on patrol in the surrounding area.
Police say they have swept the buildings looking for threats and deployed a helicopter for an aerial search.
The all-clear was given just around 11 a.m.
Police say the courthouse and public safety complex are open.
The heavy police presence meant traffic slowed through downtown Fairfax.
