ARLINGTON, Va. (AP) -- Bagpipes played, a British cavalry officer stood guard and a flame burned steady as it has for 50 years at President John F. Kennedy's grave at Arlington National Cemetery.
Jean Kennedy Smith, the last surviving Kennedy sibling, laid a wreath at her brother's grave Friday to mark the anniversary of his death. The 85-year-old was joined by about 10 members of the Kennedy family.
A few hundred people watched the ceremony, which lasted only a few minutes and had no spoken words. Kennedy family members joined hands for a short prayer and left roses at the grave.
Earlier in the morning, Attorney General Eric Holder paid his respects at the site.
