WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Navy's director of fleet and family readiness says clinical counselors are being brought in from around the area to support survivors of the shootings at the Washington Navy Yard.

Ed Cannon told reporters outside the Navy Yard Tuesday that the counselors will be available to help military personnel and civilian employees. He said more than 600 people have called seeking counseling and thousands more are expected to seek help.

A dozen people died in the rampage Monday.

Cannon says response team members will go office to office talking to employees, offering support.
