Man beaten in Charles County home invasion

WASHINGTON – Authorities are searching for suspects they say beat a man and held his girlfriend and child at gunpoint during a home invasion Wednesday morning in Charles County, Md.

Officials say the incident began at about 4:45 a.m. when three men broke into an upscale home on Leonardtown Road near Prince Frederick Road in Hughesville.

A Charles County Sheriff’s spokeswoman says the men targeted the home specifically because they knew the victim had cash. The man who was beaten is expected to be OK. His girlfriend and 5-year-old son were not hurt.

The men reportedly took money from the home before leaving and were last seen in a white Chevy Tahoe.

Sheriff’s deputies followed the suspects’ sport utility vehicle into D.C., and Prince George’s County police spokeswoman Nicole Hubbard confirmed officers were helping to canvas the Mount Rainier area.
