Lady Gaga releases new song early, after leak

WASHINGTON – Lady Gaga has released the first single from her comeback album a week earlier than expected after demo versions of the song were leaked online earlier this week.

Gaga, who is recovering from hip surgery in February, made the announcement on Twitter.

“Applause” will be featured on Lady Gaga’s upcoming “ARTPOP” album, her first studio album since 2011’s “Born This Way.”

The newly released track is a hard-driving, synth-based song, with lyrics including, “Put your hands up – make ’em touch.”

Gaga is expected to perform “Applause” on the MTV Video Music Awards on Aug. 25.
